Extract Cloud Platform

A cloud-native platform for document and data capture, classification and transformation.

The Challenge

TIS wanted to build the Extract Cloud Platform as a native cloud environment. It needed to deliver strong document and data capture solutions, like on-premises alternatives, but with a faster onboarding process and lower upfront cost for customers.

TIS also needed a partner to design and build a flexible web-based user interface. The UI had to support many job roles for each customer. Users needed to be able to:

  • Submit a transaction

  • Validate a transaction

  • Manually download export data for a transaction

  • View overall processing status for all transactions

  • Review processing history

  • Manage user and system admin tasks

Our Approach

After talks with stakeholders and TIS's back-end engineering team, the product vision became clear. The Extract Cloud platform would keep evolving, with more back-end services and a friendly UI for desktop browsers and mobile or tablet devices.

Based on customer feedback, we chose service updates that would expand the platform's process types or improve the features of existing processes.

We worked with the TIS team to break services into their smallest logical parts. That made it easy to create processes, or job roles, by linking services. It also kept the platform consistent and let TIS grow Extract Cloud services quickly while keeping the UI easy to use.

The Result

We designed and built a truly cloud-native product with the client's back-end engineering team. This vendor-neutral solution can run in any cloud environment, public or private, from any vendor. It also supports several job roles within one cloud platform.

As UI/UX design experts and front-end developers, we helped TIS reach mid-size companies that had found it hard to justify the time, effort, and cost of using data capture solutions in their own environment.

Shortly after we completed Extract Cloud, TIS was acquired by Kofax. During the acquisition, the Kofax team shared that they had been developing a similar product, but considered the platform we built with TIS a couple of years ahead of their own. For Dworkz, that feedback was a meaningful recognition of the product vision and the close collaboration between our design and front-end team and TIS’s engineering team.
